VET NURSES

Rhiannon Barkley

Rhiannon started at our practice in January 2006. She has a Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing and a Certificate III Animal Technician. Rhiannon is a very confident bird handler through her previous position at Highbury Veterinary Clinic.

Rhiannon had wanted to become a Veterinary Nurse since growing up in country Victoria on a small farm. She helped out with the Black Saturday Search & Rescue by rescuing injured wildlife with Wildlife Victoria. In her spare time you will find Rhiannon singing, strumming her guitar or playing beach volleyball.



Sally McPhee

Sally has been working at the clinic since September 2007 and has completed Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing as well as a Certificate III in Companion Animal Services.

Sally has a miniature Schnauzer named Harley, and two cats Jag and Felix. Felix was a rescue cat. In her spare time Sally likes to catching up with friends, horse riding, travelling and photography.



Lorna

Lorna began working at Ferntree Gully Veterinary Hospital as a Cattery Attendant in May 2005. She went on to become a Veterinary Nurse and is currently completing Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

Lorna owns a Labrador called Muzzy and a Golden Retriever called Archie who she enjoys taking for walks around Birdsland. When not working, you can find her travelling, reading books, listening to music and doing Arts & Crafts.



Shaun Blake

Shaun has shown a keen interest in animal studies from a young age, shortly after participating in the Work Experience program here at the clinic he was hired as a cattery attendant until finishing VCE in 2008. Upon completion he was promptly asked if he had an interest in nursing at the hospital, an answer to which there was no hesitation being yes. Shaun has plans on pursuing his medical career in the near future with ambitions of becoming a veterinarian or radiographer.

Shaun owns several pets himself, including 3 cats, 2 dogs, 4 birds (native & foreign) a native rat and a horse. Other than his affinity for animals Shaun's passions lie with listening to music (loud!), skiing and touching up on his medical knowledge.



Rochelle Sherrard-Smith

Rochelle has been working at the clininc since June 2009 and is currently undertaking the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She has recently graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor degree in Animal Science and Management and is also qualified as a dog trainer and behaviourist. Rochelle has many pets of her own including two dogs, a cat, birds and lizards. Rochelle has always had a passion for working for animals and her dream is that one day she can travel the world to work with exotic animals, inlcuding the conservation and protection of endangered species such as orangutans, tigers and elephants. 



Kay Fox

Kay has been with us since 2006 as our Professional Groomer. Kay had always wanted to be a hairdresser and settled on being a pet hairdresser. Prior to coming to Ferntree Gully Vets, Kay had Foxy's Dog Wash & Grooming in the Eastern Suburbs.

Kay has 2 dogs, Bobby & Lily. Her interests are gardening, watching movies, spending time with the family & is a St Kilda supporter. Her son Stuart is also in the Grooming profession.

In her younger days Kay was a keen horse rider and played polo cross. Kay enjoyed her sport participating in Basketball, Squash & aerobics
